Corona viruses are a type of virus .There are many different kinds of corona virus, and some cause disease. A newly identified type has caused a recent outbreak of respiratory illness now called COVID-19 from the family of Viruses.It is not like a bacteria which can grow even if left on a table.Bacteria is complete Cell while Corona is just a some part of that cell .Only Medical students can understand and know these facts about viruses.Viruses are actually arises from the combinations of DNA & RNA.

COVID-19 is not a virus but a disease caused by corona virus .COVID-19 can also be called as pneumonia.It emerged in China in December 2019. COVID-19 symptoms include shortness of breath & cough, fever. COVID-19 can be severe,There is no coronavirus vaccine yet.This virus can be spread from person to person due to contact. It is diagnosed with a laboratory test.

How is COVID-19 spread ?

COVID-19 can be spread from person to person through droplets from coughs and sneezes. COVID-19 is considered as a pandemic Disease.Corona Virus has been detected in people all over the world.

The spread of this new Virus is now being monitored by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization(WHO).

How did this new Corna virus spread to humans ? 

COVID-19 first appeared in Wuhan, a city of China, in December 2019. All the health officials are still tracing the exact source of this new Corona virus, early hypotheses thought it may be linked to a seafood market in Wuhan, China. Some people who may have visited the market developed this viral pneumonia caused by the new Corona virus. A study that came out on 25th Jan, 2020, notes that the individual with the first reported case became ill on 1 Dec 2019, and had no link to the seafood market. Investigations are ongoing as to how this virus originated and spread exactly.

What is the incubation period for COVID-19 ?

It seems that symptoms are showing up in people after the 14 days of exposure to the virus.

How is COVID-19 diagnosed ?

Diagnosis of this virus may be difficult because with only a physical exam you can test it. COVID-19 may seems similar to the flu or a bad cold. A laboratory test can confirm the diagnosis.

How is COVID-19 treated ?

As of now, there is not a specific vaccine or treatment for this virus. People who become sick from COVID-19 should be treated with highly supportive measures,those that relieve symptoms.

Is this Corona virus different from SARS ?

SARS stands for severe acute respiratory syndrome. In 2003, an outbreak of SARS also started in China and spread to other countries before ending in 2004. The virus that causes COVID-19 is similar to it both are types of Corona viruses. Much about COVID-19 is still unknown, but COVID-19 appears to spread faster than the 2003 SARS and also may cause less severe illness.
